The black cat sits as guardian at the Queen's feet.  The cat represents an independent nature.  Although she is bound to the King she does not depend on him for her existence.  The sunflower symbolizes life and energy.  The is the People's Queen and is loved and adored by her subjects.  The lions on her thrown indicate that she is a noble and powerful figure.  With the staff she commands her subjects and even the King if the need should arise.
