The Spirit pours water from one cup to the other symbolizing the blessings you have when all seems bleak and hopeless.  Also, it reveals the subconscious flowing into the conscious. One foot is on land while the other is in water revealing a need to keep your emotions grounded.  The sun which set in Death now rises giving new hope.  The solar symbol upon his brow reveals that he possesses a Divine intellect.  The fire symbol upon his chest shows that he is a creature great emotional expression but controlled by his discipline.  The square is the physical realm while the triangle reveals spiritual manifestation.
