A soldier
commands the chariot pulled by two Sphinxes, one black and the other white,
representing the passive and aggressive. Between this is the symbol
for the Divine Spirit carrying the shield which is the Ego. The
charioteer has no reigns. This means that he must control the sphinxes
through willpower and intent. The wheels of the chariot symbolize
changing cycles. The charioteer represents the physical body who must
control his conscious and subconscious which is shown by the Moons on his
shoulders.. The amulet on his chest is the symbol for Earth indicating
the physicality of his nature. The belt he wears is the belt of the
zodiac. He carries the scepter of authority. He wears the solar
crown indicating his mental aspirations. The drapery above and behind
him represent the universe is ever present.
