In the beginning...according to the Church...women were second
class. If God were male then he would make Man in HIS own image. Whose image
was Woman created? Woman was the downfall of mankind in the Garden of Eden
according to Hebrew myth. When the Church rose in political power in the Roman
world there was no place for women. Only men could become priests, thus only
men could attain spirituality and stand before the presence of God. Why was
Woman denied this gift? If all things in nature including the heavens had an
equal balance why then did Woman fall short of her male counterpart? The Church
has shown throughout the centuries that they feel threatened by the female
presence. Even to this day of enlightenment and with the growing women's
movement
the Church still denies them as being equal. Wicca is filled mostly with women
for this reason to connect with a spirituality all their own without the
abstract male deity offered by the Church. The word Priestess almost
seems foreign in Christianity who tries to suppress the female presence.
In 2002 seven women in Australia who were devoted followers of Church doctrine were ordained as priestess' presided by a priest who spoke in God's name. In 2003 these seven women were excommunicated from the Church by the Vatican.
Why? How many priests were excommunicated for molesting children? A priest is meant to be a vessel in which God speaks through. Not pass personal judgment and claiming that it's God's Will. The Divine is a puppet within the Church sharing the opinion for every clergyman so if a man should say, "My God hates you," then all he's really saying is that "I hate you." The Church turns their God Figure into a temperamental child. If this thing truly is Divine and the Creator of all that exists then why would such a creature feel threatened by the presence of a female figure representing him? No. It's not God's Will that only Man presides over his house. It's Man's Will and everything he believes is false. It's often been said that evil destroys itself from within. The Church crumbles.
