Sun, Moon and Cross

I wanted to take a close look at the seven symbols which make up the planets. If you observe closely, you'll notice that they are made from only three symbols. Individually, the Sun represents masculine energy and the Moon represents feminine energy.  The Cross is a link between both masculine and feminine where not one is greater than the other.  They are equal as it should be.  Take a close look at the symbol for Mars.  The sun and the cross are shown. The cross is bent like an arrow to show defiance. The sun represents uninhibited energy. There's strength to this symbol.   With Mercury, the sun, moon and cross are all used. The moon is placed as a crown to show intelligence. The sun is the head, referring to communication, while the cross is placed as the body linking masculine and feminine energies.  Jupiter uses the cross and moon in it's planetary symbol. The moon placed on the cross shows an outward view.  In other words, it reveals how we present ourselves to those around us. Where Mercury represents a striking force, Venus shows us a subtle and more feminine energy.  The symbol for Saturn is a direct opposite of Jupiter's symbol. The Cross above the moon reveals an inner quality.

All it took were three symbols to make up seven of the most striking and influential archetypes.
