Shem Ha-Mephorash

I know that at least one person reading this article is thinking, "Shem ha-Me what???" Shem ha-Mephorash is an extended name of God as it's been written in Exodus 14:19-21. No, not in English but in Hebrew. The exact meaning of the word is not known but commonly it's translated to mean, "Seventy-two names of God." There are seventy-two letters in all three verses which reveal the name of seventy-two Angels associated to the Hebrew (not Christian) God.  I'll explain how this is broken down.  Take the first verse, read it from right to left.  The second verse, read it from left to right.  The third and final verse, read it from right to left. What you've done here is a form of permutation.  Following the rules I just set up let's see what names are extracted. The first letter from each verse reveals, Vau-Heh-Vau.  The common rule when determining names of Angels is to add the suffix Yah or El.  In the case of  the first Angel extracted the name is, Vahaviah.  The second Angel would be, Yelayel.  The third Angel would be, Sitael, and so on for the duration of seventy-two Angels.

Now the logical question is, what's the purpose? Scholars have often tried to devise methods for finding names of Angels who were an extension of God. Spirits don't exist in physical form.  They have to first be created in the mind and names associated or often revealed through mathematical numerations or word formulas.  Either way a pattern has to be devised and set.

Godwin's Cabalistic Encyclopedia pointed out an interesting fact. Some of the Angels extracted revealed a common sounding form to Gods or Goddesses of other religions.  If I may use the same examples...

Hari to the Hindu, Hare
Keli to the Hindu, Kali
Aum to the Hindu, Aum
Nith to the Egyptian, Neith
Raah to the Egyptain, Rah

These names are also divided among the zodiac being placed every 5 degrees and are also placed among the lesser arcana of the Tarot.  Using the Tarot in association with the Shem ha-Mephorash would reveal a deeper nature to the Angels and every spirit would have its duties which can be performed if ever you needed to evoke one for which ever purpose. The seventy-two Angels are related to certain scripture in the Bible. It's purpose is for magical use but Magick is forbidden in the Bible, right?

It's interesting that the Church of Satan has adopted the seventy-two letter name of God, however, they wrongfully pronounce it as "Shem Hamphorash." They use the word as a Christian would say "Amen" at the end of a pray.  It's also interesting to observe that while the modern Satanist invokes the dark forces of human nature he closes his calling by speaking the seventy-two names of God. I'd like to hear a Satanists point of view on this.
