God and Bush

I'm going to do something which I normally don't do here. Involve myself with today's politics. If you read through religious history you'd soon notice a common thread of ideas being planted. The idea that "god" granted his (or her) divine authority to destroy another's way of life. I don't support al Qaida nor do I support Saddam. Equally I do not support the way Bush had taken matters into his own hands. The crusades were said to have been granted by God's permission.  King James I said that God granted him permission to translate the Bible and in doing so added his obsession and fear of witchcraft. Now George Bush has said...

"God told me to strike at al Qaida and I
struck them, and then he instructed me to
strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am
determined to solve the problem in the Middle
East. If you help me I will act, and if not,
the elections will come and I will have to
focus on them."

His entire presidency has been questionable. Some people believe that Bush is the anti-Christ which the Bible warned us against. When the Bible speaks of God being a "man of war," was that scripture referring to George Bush? I remember reading in the paper how Bush was shaking his fist in excitement at the beginning of the war saying, "Feels Good." People never seem to tire of using God as an excuse to perform an action which the majority of the people would stand against. Now let's assume that God really did speak to Bush. If God wanted al-Qaida destroyed did he not foresee the terrorist attack in New York or did he want those people killed too? Is it just a coincidence that Saddam becomes a global threat only when George Bush and George W. Bush are president? If Bush really did speak to God on this matter doesn't that make him a prophet or a medium? Doesn't the Bible warn against false prophets or forbid the practice of mediums? Has God said anything about the recall election in California or is he just pointing a finger at those whom he wants Bush to destroy? Wasn't there a time when God punished wicked acts personally? Does this mean that God has become weak in Christianity's old age? Wasn't Joan of Arc burned at the stake for claiming she spoke to God?

During the Vietnam war Bush ducked the draft but as president he's more than willing and ready to send people to die for his cause. This is Bush's war. He put his focus on countries over seas while the United States falls apart. After 9-11 people kept saying to go about your daily lives "or the terrorists win." Bush looked for nuclear weapons in Iraq as an excuse to attack that country and when none were found he attacked anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if "weapons of mass destruction" were mysteriously found when the next presidential election comes. Would you care to impeach Bush? I'm surprised that he lasted this long in the Oval Office.

I didn't vote during the presidential election for two reasons. First, Gore was about censorship which I disagreed on.  Second, Bush was using Christianity as his soapbox. Unfortunately the greater of two evils won. Well, not entirely. We should have realized that something wasn't right when the man who lost the election still became president. Maybe God really spoke to Bush and maybe not. Maybe God intervened when Bush choked on a pretzel. Maybe this was God's way of trying to kill Bush before things got out of hand. The most powerful man in the world seems to have no fear with God on his side. Maybe this Halloween I'll go knocking on his door dressed as a pretzel.
