Body, Soul and Spirit Connection
Part 4 of 4

So how does this work with the Archetypes? Archetypes play a major role in our lives, especially when it comes to the Divine. In DEN OF GODS, I go into further detail about the Divine Archetypal structure. The names given are not important. You can name them according to the associations and correspondences by which they're expressed. For example, the sun is seen as the giver of light, warmth and the changing seasons. What correspondences would you give to the sun? Which ever you choose will be the focus for the Archetype you develop, including the name. People often look for a pantheon to work with when they first become interested in Magick. Some people choose a cultural collection of Gods and Goddesses while others choose those whom they feel closer connected to.

When we dream, stories are played out and we act out all the roles. As dreams have their own symbolic meaning, so too do the Divine Archetypes. However, these symbols are played out through myth and by these myths, we enact their meaning through ritual. If we were to act out the story for The Little Engine That Could, we would play the role of the Little Engine and the focus of our intent would be the hill, being a problem which needs to be worked out. The keyword used would be "I think I can" or more to the point, "I know I can."

Of course myth offers a much more complex stage to work with, and from this, a great deal of rich drama can be built with repeated affirmations. To conclude this four month article, our thoughts and emotions are what create the soul and the soul is the link which bridges us to the divine spirit we call God. The body, soul, spirit, archetypes, ghosts, and the divine are not separate areas of understanding. They are all connected and by that energy we invoke during ritual and repeated affirmations, we become deeply connected to how we perceive our reality. By this all things are possible. Well...most things anyway.
