Sex and the Church
Part 2 of 3

The Church has been divided in this matter of child molestation. Simply moving the priests from one location to another would not fix the problem or make it go away or silence those whom were victimized. Some Church officials feel that the priests should be defrocked while others are against this idea. Many feel that the lack of priests will bring a rise to decreasing congregations, and thus, the lack of those faithful will weaken the Church's hold over political and cultural ideology.

The Pope called for a zero tolerance policy but many were appalled by this decision. Why? What is it they fear? The pillars of the Church are starting to show cracks. Can it be a coincedence that so much homosexuality exists in the Church, when they publically denounce this behavior as a sin? So many cover-ups exist. Imagine the things that you're not aware of. If the Church doesn't handle this situation, then they'll be responsibile for their own downfall.

There's a belief that the creation must eventually destroy the creator. People are now looking away from I Believe and the conciousness has turned to I Know. This problem can be solved, but they fear losing status within the community. Many people are not aware of how much power the Church has over them. Their worse fear has been realized. The Church has been exposed and is under further investigation. Even chaplains in the military have been discovered to have molested children or to have made sexual advances toward military personal.

By asking the priests to become celibate only harbors secret desires. The Church cannot expect these men to contain their natural urges. It's no wonder they turn to homosexual acts. I can imagine how many priests have felt guilt over seeing a woman in the congregation which aroused them so they've turned to the only means of releasing that urge. They have power over the young because parents have instilled the idea that priests are holy men and should be obeyed because they are men of God.
