Probably the oldest form of entertainment was story telling. There was a time when people had gathered around a camp fire and told their own history and experiences in life. Stories once had a purpose in their telling, other than just to entertain. Stories often had a moral to them from which life's lessons could be learned through metafors. The best stories told were timeless and would have the same impact on current society as it did back then. Long before stories were put into writing, they were memorized and retold, probably with new ideas added. It's no wonder why so many variations of the same stories exist.
Stories don't have to be anything serious or dramatic. They can be comical and silly, still having the same impact in the ideas expressed. The reason I felt like talking about stories, is because I've grown up around such ideas, even though no one around me shared my views. The first story I was told by word of mouth was the story of Thesseus and the Minotaur. Now this had a deeper impact on my life than any movie or book I read. I was able the see the facial expressions of the story-teller with such wonder as it was being told to me, and so the fascination for stories was planted. Without that, I would never have created this website, nor would my Magick have become decorated with such archetypal symbols.
The Creation Myth I have here, is filled with symbolism, and was the foundation for creating my Ritual of the Circle. Stories influence us all, whether or not you're aware of them. Myths were created to express the changing seasons, just as rituals were created to express myth.Try creating stories which you can enact through ritual. This will strengthen your archetypes and focus your intentions, as well as direct them. You'd soon discover that Magick will not work if you have a lack of direction.
