Body, Soul and Spirit Connection
Part 1 of 4

This article is going to be very deep in understand and in theories which may not, or cannot, be proven, but it may make more sense than anything you've ever heard or read in regard to how the body, soul and spirit work in conjunction with each other. This is probably the biggest mystery, next to the ideas concerning the existance of the Divine, but after this article has been read, maybe an understanding of the Divine will be known as well. You may want to share this, and the following articles, with friends and family.

The word for spirit, comes from the Latin, spiritus, which means "breath." Perhaps it's our breath which gives us live, much like the wind causes the mill to turn, generating the energy needed to power a home.

As for the origin of the word, soul, there are a few possibilities.Middle English, soule. Old English, sAwol. Old High German, sEula. The idea was believed that the soul was the embodiment of the total-self.

Throughout history, people have written theories on what the soul consisted of, but it was viewed only in part, and not as a whole. Often, the mistake was made in trying to locate a single physical source from which the soul could be proven to exist, much like the heart which causes the blood to circulate with every thump in your chest. The soul has no physical component. The soul consists of nothing more than thought and emotion. Thought and emotion cannot be seen, but no one denies the fact that we have them at every waking moment of our lives.

The same can be said about the soul, though many people often deny its existance. This brings some questions to mind. Can the soul be proven to exist? What's the purpose of the soul? How does the soul affect our lives? What happens to the soul when we die? Does reincarnation exist, and if so, why can't we remember our past lives? What's the purpose of worship?

Next month, we'll answer these questions one at a time, but for now, let's examine the elements of the soul. If you've been exploring DEN OF HEATHENS, then you may have read my descriptions of how thought and emotion make up the energy which we use to work Magick. The same is true for the soul. The soul is equally made from thought and emotion. This is how the soul exists, and no other way. Thought and emotion have been discovered to emit pulses of electrical currents. Perhaps this is how the soul can be proven to exist.
