It's been spoken of so many times, and even a song was written about it, but what does it really mean? The idea (of course) is an astrological concept. The earth slowly creeps along its path throughout the centuries and enters each sign, much the same way the sun does once a month, except the earth enters each sign every 2,150 years. This number had been rounded down to 2,000 years for practical reasons, and it's easier to keep track of.
Every age brings with it a concept. For example, the Age of Aries, who's keyword is I am brought with it the idea of a single god, as opposed to a multitude. This was the force behind the Bible, and when God spoke to Moses "I am that I am," it only makes things a little more clearer as to what was meant by these words. Be aware that the motion of these ages moves in reverse, so that the Age of Taurus came before the Age of Aries, and the Age of Pisces would soon follow.
When Moses discovered his people worshipping the golden calf (being a symbol of the Age of Taurus) he destroyed it, because there was no longer a need for dwelling on past beliefs. The Age of Pisces brought with it the concept of Christianity, whose first symbol, long before the Cross, was the fish. The keyword for Pisces is I believe. The Apostle's Creed even begins with " I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth..."
How many times have you heard the Christian people say I believe? Throughout their short history, they have focused on what's believed, rather than what's known to be the truth. Believing is one thing, but knowing is another. Here's an example. It's believed that the ocean is blue. Why? Well, I know for a fact that the ocean only reflects the sky like a mirror, causing the illusion of being blue. It's believed that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Why? Well, I know that the earth is rotating, giving the illusion of the sun's motion across the sky.
We are now entering the Age of Aquarius, and this brings with it the concept of knowledge as opposed to blind faith. If you observe closely, you'll notice how many people are beginning to say I know. What does this mean for those of a religious background? Perhaps the ideas which they once believed will now become understood. Many whom are practiced in the ways of Magick have been lost to much thought in regard to religion as well. Many times, I have told people to look away from such titles as witch, Wiccan, Catholic or Christian, and focus only on spirituality instead of a given path of a mass belief. I'm proud to say that people are finally coming to this understanding.
Now with the recent events going on in the world, especially with the destruction of the World Trade Center, religion was the force behind that attack, as you will soon see. I've been hearing people talk about how God allowed this to happen as a wake up call, and perhaps it was divinely prophesied after all. This could not happen at a more perfect time. On September 11th, people woke up to the reality of a world they had never known.
Not everyone will enter this age of understanding, and for those who resist, continuing to hold on to their beliefs rather than claiming knowledge, I have a deep pity for them. It may not happen within our lifetime, but religion as it's been believed may die out with a knew understanding and knowledge of personal spirituality. When and if this should ever happen, which seems doubtful at times, then there would be no need for religious warfare and only a need for self-improvement and spiritual growth. Go spread the word. A new age is upon us.
