Requiem for the Dead

This month, I want to take a look at religious discrimination. On Febuary 20th, we lost not only one of our own, but one who was so young and had not yet been given a chance to live her life. She had been teased and mocked at school by her follow Christian peers, simply for her beliefs. She took her own life, and many stood up to take notice, including those whom had teased her.  The Bible teaches to love your neighbor, and to treat others as you would have them treat you, but these Christians only showed a lack of discipline when they stand up against one whom they viewed as being different and therefore ignore their own teaching and scripture.

I've spoken to Christians who hold on to the fact that their religion was persecuted by the Romans, but they miss the facts presented. Early Christianity was a Jewish sect, and was seen as a cult.  What makes a cult a religion is simply credibility and acceptance.  I'm not condoning the persecution of Christians. Discrimination in any form is wrong.
